‘The Female Gaze’ is a project from my 4th year of university at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design. This work was printed to display for the 2021 DJCAD Degree Show, later exhibited in Six Foot Gallery and featured by independent film lab, Gulabi Photo.

Personally defined as a fluid and unique perspective, the female gaze aims to capture the female kinship between subject and photographer through and intimate and personal lens.

Using the medium of analogue photography, I explore the fundamentals of my own female gaze and what significance it holds within the work I make. Creating a visual documentation of each encounter, my work becomes a tool to understanding the alternative perspective that portrays women as individuals, not as objects for the viewer’s consumption.
